The driver must know who the corn is for and what they are doing with it. The person at the scale does not know if you have a contract or condo.
Text Box: It is our goal to try to accommodate as many customers as possible with the space we have available. If you plan on hauling corn to Farm Service this fall it would be wise to come in or call and make arrangements early.

Grain Marketing Options at FSE

Our grain department at Farm Service Elevator offers several different options to you when you market corn with us. Listed are some of the most popular.

Cash Sale (spot) - Selling at time of delivery at scale.

Deferred Delivery Contract (Contract for future delivery of grain) - This is the most widely used marketing tool for forward pricing.  Producer requests bushels and delivery time, price is FSE board price for the delivery period specified.

Priced Later Contract (- This allows you to deliver corn without pricing at time of delivery. The charges for Price Later will be established at the time of delivery.  Pricing is done between 9:30 am and 1:15 p.m. at FSE’s board price during normal CBOT hours. We will have a limited amount of space for Price Later, so if you going to need space, contact us. Our program fee for Price Later this year is a 15 cent per Bu. minimum through 12/31/10 and 5 cents / bu. each month thereafter. Prorated on a daily basis.

Target Offers - allows you as a producer to call FSE and offer a price, bushels and delivery period. At that point, FSE watches the grain markets for you until the date that you have set for offer to expire. If our bid meets the price you set prior to the expiration date a Deferred Delivery contract is written.

Closing Bids Recording: 1-320-235-8878 you can call after about 2:30 PM each day and hear the posted closing bids for Spot and deferred months.

Grade and Drying schedules: available on our website or you can stop in for a copy.

Policies and Programs are subject to corrections and changes without notice.

Deferred Payment Contracts:  We offer a payment option that will let us issue you a check after January, 2011. This is available to those producers who are on a “Cash Accounting Basis” only.  You must inform us before you are finished hauling otherwise a check will be issued in 2010.

Corn Contracting Hours:

For risk management purposes, FSE will only contract corn from 9:30 AM until 1:15 PM during CBOT trading. This also applies to sales of Condo storage, Price Later and Warehouse Receipts. This does not apply to spot sales across the scale.

FSEText Box: Truck drivers can communicate with the scale operator by CB radio on channel 19 or by phone when they are at the scale 320-222-9809
